Rhytidectomy
As time passes the skin of the face and the neck loses elasticity and begins to wrinkle. This gives a look that can be very unpleasant. From about forty years certain factors start to influence the appearance of wrinkles on the skin, especially in the face.
Those factors are:
- The nutrients do not arrive from the dermis to the epidermis.
This causes that the face looks dull and devitalized, because the nutrients do not go in the right way from the dermis (the deepest layer of the skin) to the epidermis (the superficial one).
- The activity of sebaceous glands decreases.
This causes the skin to dry, however, oily skin is not an exception, because it also need special care to prevent aging.
- Diminution in collagen due to decreased estrogen.
The diminution in collagen causes the skin loses weight, elasticity and firmness. All that reduces its ability to retain water inside, so it dehydrates easily.
- Having a very thin skin.
If, in addition to drying, the skin is usually too thin, it is much more likely that many wrinkles appear.
